Study Abroad – Costa Rica
Costa Rica was my second study abroad in a Spanish speaking country and it really helped me develop my comfort living in a large city and also working on my Spanish skills.
I was in the advanced Spanish class and we focused every day grammar in the morning and then conversational skills in the afternoon. The teaching method was to essentially learn the rules and practice them. However, like many study abroad programs it was the immersion that really made the difference. Hearing Spanish everywhere everyday and having to use it for all my daily tasks really brought my Spanish up to another level.
Besides Spanish, learning to navigate unscrupulous taxi drivers, a city with no streets sign names, and how to take care of myself, where invaluable lessons.
